Planning for Foundation WB 30.11.20
Class: Mice Year: 2020 - 2021
Hello parents and carers!
Here is the planning for the week beginning 30.11.20. We are starting to get rerady for Christmas and getting the glitter out! It's very exciting!
As always, aim to work for an hour a day with your child, and the rest can be play or reading. You can break the hour up into chunks. Your child's attention span is their age, + a minute (so 5 or 6 minutes).
Most of all, have fun!!

1. Writing |
Phonics phoneme frames Use sheet 1 to support the writing of three letter words. If your child is confident, then you can progress to the other two sheets. Remember to try to use pure sounds to model the sounds letters make. You can find them here: |
2. Art |
Ongoing singing of festive songs. Make a festive hat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=493D6kuoT_U Make a festive decoration https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0KpF8MBRVM |
3. Phonics |
Daily phonics New sounds we are learning this week are: ay, ee, igh, ow, oo
We are starting to learn digraphs now and these are two letters that make 1 sound. We call them ‘special friends’. You can watch a really good video of how to practise sounds on the parent section of the Ruth Miskin website. https://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/find-out-more/parents/ How many words can you think of with each sound in? |
4. Handwriting |
Use letter formation sheets to practise formation of letters. You can find the sheets on the website. |
5. Maths |
Introduce tally charts and how to record data using tallys. Use the nativity tally sheet to record the numbers of items on the sheet. Extend by asking children to record things using tallies, such as people’s favourite meals, or the numbers of doors, windows, cushions etc. They can even tally their toys? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_UZiA_oxaY

6. Reading |
Read for 5 minutes every day. |
7. Number practice |
Use the number formation sheets on the website to practise reading and forming all the numbers to 10 and, when confident, beyond. |
