Getting ready for school!

Is your child starting school in September?

Below is a checklist for skills you might want to practise and tick off - this will help your child to understand how prepared and grown up they are!

They need to understand that they are coming to school to learn new things. Their ability to do things independently is crucial as they will feel capable and confident. Things like putting on and fastening their own shoes and coat, carrying their own bag, using a knife and fork, dressing themselves. All of these are important skills and will help them to feel ready to learn. 

Most of all talk to them positively about school and that it is great fun! They are going to make so many new friends and learn so many new things!
