DOBCROFT INFANT SCHOOL

What's happening in Year 1? (June 18th 2017)

Date: 28th Jun 2017 @ 3:31pm

Year 1 is almost over, but we have still got lots of exciting activities happening before the summer holidays!

Writing and SPAG:

We are writing our own newspaper articles about James and the Giant Peach, but have each adapted the story. Some children have written about a giant kiwi landing on the Shard in London! We are writing our newspaper articles up onto a template so will be using our neatest handwriting.

Maths:

We have been doing lots of practical maths recently, using rulers to measure length in cm and scales to measure weight in grams. We have also been comparing lengths and weights using mathematical vocab such as "longer", "heavier" and "balanced". We will be learning about money and the different coins and notes we have...do you have any coins in a moneybox at home you can count?

Computing:

We have been using our ICT skills to type, change font type, size and colour and insert pictures from ClipArt. Look at some of our posters about the Dobcroft Summer Fayre. It should be a great day, fingers crossed for sunshine!

Millhouses Park trip:

Each Year 1 class voted for a trip to Millhouses Park as their final Marble in the Jar treat this half-term, so we have arrnaged for all Year 1 pupils to go for the morning on Tuesday 18th July, leaving school at 9:30 and getting back for a normal lunch at 12pm. If you would like to come, please sign up on the sign-up sheet on your class' Parent Noticeboard.

It has been a fantastic year in Year 1 and we hope you all have a great summer!

Year 1 Team :)
